Quick Hair Update

I am now 7, going on 8 months post relaxer. March 6th will be 8 months! YAY! I'm really anxious to cut off my relaxed ends. But, im trying to wait until I make it to a year before I do so! Im considered doing it at the "Natural's Night Out" event that im going to in NYC this June (more details to come in a later post), but I haven't quite decided yet!

For now, I've been trying to keep my hair "put away" as I call it. Im trying to stay on the protective path. First I had a sew in that I loved the look of. But, as expensive as the hair was, it was so hard to keep it detangled.

Besides that, I get bored with things very easily.

Right now, I have senegalese twist, and as much as I don't like micro braids, I love these.

I've had them for two weeks. I want to at least keep them two another two before its on to the next style. Who knows what ill end up with next!

XOXO

Let's get Crackin'

[colors from left to right: "lightning bolt", "cracked concrete", "black mesh", "broken hearted", "fault line".]

I ordered the China Glaze Crackle polishes about a week or so ago from amazon.com. They're not available in stores yet(that I know of) but I'm hearing that they will be sold at Sally Beauty Supply sometime in March. If you're interested be sure to keep an eye out because polish collections sell out fast at Sally's. Well, at the one by me anyway!

I took a nail wheel that I got when I ordered polish from Zoya and tried to swatch each color for you guys since I've only used the black one, but the polish did not crack on the wheel. Therefore, I only have a pic of the "black mesh". I will definitely add the other colors in another nail design post as I use them. But, for now, here is "Black Mesh" over Cover Girl's "Bronze Beauty".

The manicure lasted about 7 days. I would of kept it longer but if you look closely at the picture, you can see that my polish started receding from the tip (all thanks to my Seche Vite top coat. I'm gonna hunt for another fast dry top coat. I love Seche, but I don't love the polish shrinkage. If you guys have any suggestions leave a comment below!)

My Opinion: I think I'm gonna love these polishes. I say "think" because I've only tried the one, but I absolutely love it! They make chipped polish look good, and they're fun to pair up with a bunch of colors. So many different manicure opportunities! I'm all for it.

NAILS !!

Happy New Year guys ! =)

As promised, I'm back with a post full of nail designs that I've done. Some with the help of Konad, some by hand. Nail Art and polishing my nails has been a hobby of mine for about two years now. At one point I was polishing my nails everyday, just because I found it fun. Now, since I don't have as much time I try to wear a manicure for at least 3 days. With my job, they begin to chip by then anyway. This whole obsession started with me trying not to bite my nails, and having polish on them was the only thing that kept them out of my mouth because I didn't want to ruin it. Now I'm more about experimenting with different things. I really find it fun. I just received my first nail polish rack today and put it up on my bedroom wall. I LOVE.

I already need another one. I had no idea I had that many until they were up there. I'm gonna order another one really soon because there are a lot of spring nail polish collections that I'll be getting! I'll try to post those for you guys, in case you're interested as well ! But for now, onto the pics. These were taken with my old cell phone so excuse the quality. I didn't know at the time that I would be posting them anywhere.

About that nail product that I was supposed to be reviewing for you guys.. I DID NOT forget about it.. I wanted to have before and after pics of my nails so you could actually SEE the results BUT..nail biting is a nervous habit of mine and sometimes I do it without even realizing until it's too late. I have gotten better about it and grown my nails to pretty nice lengths without biting..but my nerves have been shot lately and my nails are gross right about now! With the holiday season at work, I haven't had much time to keep them polished and that is what prevents me from biting them..But, to day , I polished what's left of them and I'm working on growing them back out so I can get that review to you guys!

One day soon I'll put up pics of some of my past manicures. I try to keep my nails looking spiffy, but with no time it's hard. I've literally been going to work coming home, showering, going to sleep and going back to work! Last Friday I did manage to sneak out of work early enough to see Usher's OMG concert. Amazing. I will post pics and possibly footage from that also once I get everything uploaded! =) Great Show!

NOW! The real reason I wanted to post today is because I've been thinking..I want to start interacting with you guys more..So, a way for me to do so is to start having contests and giveaways and things of that nature..what do you think?! I appreciate my readers, even if you don't comment so why not give back sometimes right?

I'm thinking of starting January 2011, but I need feedback. If no one's going to participate, im not going to waste my time! Soooo..let me know! I 'll leave it up to you guys. =)=)=) I wanna know who's out there and who's actually paying attention. I have some awesome ideas in mind!

Upcoming posts:
Hair Update
Past Manicures
Usher OMG Tour

Stay tuned..

REVIEW TUESDAY: "GROW IT" By: Chicoro

Today's review is going to be a little different because it's a BOOK that I will be telling you guys about ! This book was presented to me by a youtuber !

Photobucket

It says "How to grow afro-textured hair to maximum lengths in the shortest time". The title alone sold me. It's a book about how to care for not only natural hair, but hair period. What's a more perfect time for me to find a book like this than in the beginning of my transition, right? I was excited when I saw it and ordered it right away from amazon.com. It was $17 and change and that included the shipping!

It's a pretty thin book, didn't take long to read at all and what she explains is how to treat and care for your hair to preserve it's length. She has a six step process that she calls the "grow it process" on how to attain growth and retain length. I don't wanna give to much away because that may mess with her book sales, but I will share the six steps with you:
1. De-tangle
2. Cleanse
3. Condition
4. Moisturize
5. Protect
6. Grow it !

Of course she gives way more detail and example than that, but again..if I gave away everything, no one would buy the book. So if you are interested in those details and examples, you should pick it up!

My Opinion: This book taught me safer ways to care for my hair. One thing I don't have when it comes to hair is patience! So, this process is teaching me to make time and take time when doing my hair. She goes into the science and biology of the hair which, to me, is boring..(not just in her book, I don't like most biology period), but you have to know what you're dealing with when you're trying to care for something! She also explained the Ph of hair. I learned on youtube that any products you put in your hair should have a Ph of 4.0-7.0! And they sell strips to test it! I don't have any yet, but that is on my list of things to buy next!! Maybe I'll do a short video on how those work once I get them! But, back to the book.. The bottom line is if you want to grow your hair to long lengths, you have to learn to preserve the hair that has already grown from your scalp. You'll never have long length if your hair keeps breaking when it reaches a certain point. So you have to be gentle, take the extra time needed to do things to your hair without causing it so much stress. The book is pretty great for someone who doesn't know much about how to properly care for hair(me!).. and it's even better for someone that is transitioning because Chicoro transitioned at one point and now her hair is all natural, gorgeous, and crazy long! If you know someone who just got into hair care, this book would be a nice gift! I can't say much more other than it being a great addition to my journey. I'm happy I found it when I did, so that I could correct any mistakes that I may or may not have been making..And I just hope that what worked for her, works for me too ! ;D I'll keep you guys posted!
